She has one of the biggest fandoms in the world.

So comedian Henry Rowley really angered the hornets’ nest when he decided to take on Taylor Swift’s songs.

When the British star, 26, shared what he thought to be a funny video with his TikTok and Instagram followers last week, he couldn’t have prepared for the backlash to come from Swift’s followers.

As Swift, 34, released her 11th album The Tortured Poets Department last month, Rowley thought that he would have a go at creating his own songs in the same vein as the US popstar. “These are all hits,” he captioned the video.

“You broke my heart beyond words… apart from these ones: pain, suffering, depression,” he sang in one part of the skit. “You broke my heart now we’re getting back together – hahaha that was a joke, I would never get back with him,” he continued.

Although most thought the video was hilarious, the Swifties were less than impressed – branding the sketch as “cringe”.

“Jealous much,” one follower wrote, while another added, “Tell me you never heard a song without telling me you’ve never heard a song.”

“This man has only heard Shake It Off and Cruel Summer I guarantee u,” someone else blasted, while a fourth continued, “To the people going on about how her songs are bad and they all sound the same: First of all y‘all don‘t even understand half of the lyrics bc you never even touched a dictionary in your lifetime and second jealousy is the biggest compliment. Bc that‘s what you sound like. Jealous! And to say it with Taylor‘s words: I’ll tell you something right now/I’d rather burn my whole life down/Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin‘ and moanin‘!”

Others commended Rowley’s bravery for posting such a Swiftie-triggering video – encouraging the comedian to “please lock your doors at night”.

“The courage to upset the Swifties …. Good luck young padawan,” someone commented, as another added, “You are so brave for this.”

“I hope you have your armor and riot shield,” someone else joked.

While the whole debacle may have put some comics off, would Rowley go through it all again?

“People did say, ‘Don’t come for the Swifties, they will get you,’” he said via an Instagram story. “People are messaging me like, ‘Yeah, you knew it was coming, you knew it was coming’… It’s just really making me want to do another one.”
