- News that a secret Predator film has been made was dropped by Steve Asbell
- This feature will be released before Predator: Badlands hits theaters
- Predator: Badlands is going to be sci-fi, but in an unexpected way, according to Asbell.

While the news that a secret Predator film has been made was shock enough for fans of the franchise but could there be an even bigger one coming? Might the film be animated?
Major revelation
Predator fans were already excited by the prospect of Predator: Badlands coming to theaters next year, but now there is a whole other movie that will be released before that.
This was a major revelation from Steve Asbell, the president of 20th Century Studios, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Two [Predator films] are coming out next year,” said Asbell. “One I can’t talk about yet, but the other one is the live-action Predator film with Elle Fanning that just wrapped in New Zealand.
“There’s a second Predator movie that we have different plans for,” Absell added that Dan Trachtenberg has directed both of these upcoming features.
While Absell didn’t say anything more about the ‘secret’ Predator film, his words are left open to interpretation. By saying that Predator: Badlands is live-action specifically, could that mean that the other film is not going to be? Could it therefore be animated in some way?
Animated expansions
Some other franchises are expanding their universe through animated features. For instance, it has just been confirmed that a prequel film for John Wick is in the works, and that will be anime.
Predator has also appeared in Marvel comics too recently. In a four-issue miniseries that debuted this summer, Black Panther came up against the Predators – the species of Yautja – when a group of Predators descend on Wakanda, intent on plundering the country for its Vibranium supplies.
This is not the first time that the Yautja have crossed paths with the Marvel universe. Last year, they were after Wolverine’s adamantium in Predator vs Wolverine.
