- In an interview, Love attacked Swift and said she’s not interesting as an artist.
- Many of Swift’s fans questioned “who Love is” and branded her “bitter”.
- Love also said Lana Del Ray should “take seven years off”, that she “doesn’t like” Madonna, and that she “doesn’t like Beyonce’s music”

If there’s one thing that celebs should know, it’s to avoid angering the fans of pop superstar Taylor Swift.
But rocker Courtney Love clearly didn’t receive that memo – and the Swifties are not happy about it.
This week, the Hole singer, 59, spoke candidly in an interview with London’s Evening Standard newspaper – and fired several shots at the Karma singer, 34.
“Taylor is not important,” Love – the widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain – mused. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”
Branding the star “old and bitter”, several fans took to Twitter/X to make their feelings known.
“Courtney Love is such a miserable bitter hag and livies [Olivia Rodrigo fans] have been telling you all since 2021,” wrote one, while another added, “Courtney Love always coming for women younger and prettier than her, like go find something to do granny.”
A third said sarcastically, “New Courtney Love interview? I’m sure she’ll have nothing but beautiful and generous things to say about her industry peers 🙂 Courtney is so kind.”
Swift wasn’t the only celeb in the firing line during the interview – as Love also took a swipe at Lana Del Ray, Madonna and Beyoncé.
“I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off,” Love continued. “Up until Take Me Home Country Roads, I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much.”
She said of Madonna, “I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me. I loved Desperately Seeking Susan, but for the city of New York as much as her.”
And Love added of Beyoncé, “I mean, I like the idea of Beyoncé doing a country record because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music.”
“The thing about Courtney Love ‘being a bitch’ and speaking of her dislike of Beyoncé, Taylor, Madonna and Lana is that it’s not rooted in anything BEYOND being a bitch. She’s a contrarian and it’s boring and you can tell how deeply insecure she is here,” someone observed.
