Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal are two friends who will most likely be linked forever.
The pair shot to fame on the 2020 hit Hulu series Normal People, and have remained best pals ever since.
Unlike their characters Marianne and Connell, however, the pair have never been romantically linked – much to the disappointment of fans who would love to see them in a relationship.
But that doesn’t stop them hoping – and social media went wild last week, when Edgar-Jones was spotted enjoying the company of Mescal’s younger brother, Donnacha.
Although the pair were actually supporting Gracie Abrams – who has been in a relationship with Mescal for nine months – at her The Secret of Us tour, fans couldn’t help but speculate online.
Fans talk ‘lore’ between Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones
As some people branded Edgar-Jones as a “hilarious, messy queen”, others wrote that it is “kind of insane when you think about it”.
“Why do I feel like, if you asked Paul who to save in a sinking boat, Gracie or Daisy… He’d say Daisy in a heartbeat,” mused one, while another agreed, “Now I am not a fan of Gracie, but the LORE between Paul and Daisy is crazy, I pray for her.”
Others branded it a “situationship final boss”, someone else continued, “These women need to start suing Paul Mescal for emotional damage.”
Another said that “the lore is getting too much to handle”, while someone else added, “They’re NEVER beating the allegations fr fr.”

However, there was more to the story than first meets the eye – after one fan pointed out that Edgar-Jones’s partner of 18 months, Ben ‘Pip’ Seed, had been cropped from the photo.
“Idk why you cropped the pic,” wrote one angry fan. “The caption *should* say, ‘Daisy Edgar Jones, her boyfriend Ben Seed, and Donnacha Mescal (Paul Mescal’s brother) spotted at the Gracie Abrams London show tonight’.”
Someone else went on, “People need to let go and understand that Daisy and Paul are close friends and she has a boyfriend since a long time now.”
Another agreed, “Her boyfriend was there too. You guys are so weird about them, it’s not even funny.”
