Donald Trump tried to talk about what “groceries” are for another time.

Parts of the internet were left scratching their heads as to what on Earth he was talking about when gabbing to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Commander-in-Chief called the word “old fashioned” which confused a lot of people on X.

Speaking to the United Arab Emirates president, he said, “We have a term ‘groceries.’ It’s an old term but it means basically what you’re buying, food, it’s a pretty accurate term but it’s an old fashioned sound but groceries are down.”

“If groceries is the old term, what would the new term be? LOL,” someone asked.

Another added, “What normal American doesn’t use the word groceries at least once every other week?”

Many pointed out word might seem expired because the ex-television personality hasn’t had to buy any in years.

“The word ‘groceries’ sounds old-fashioned to him because he doesn’t shop for groceries,” someone wrote.

What else did Donald Trump say about groceries?

Trump also claimed that their cost was falling since he retook office at the beginning of the year. Many cited the cost of eggs and other everyday household items as a reason to why they ticked his name on the ballot paper in 2024.

“But groceries are down, costs are down. Eggs are down. First week, they were hitting me with eggs, were up 200 per cent. And now they’re down to a number that is amazing. We’re down 97 per cent, 98 per cent from where they were,” he said.

However, many questioned his maths skills as it would now mean the dairy product costs 10 to 15 cents a dozen. According to CNN data analysis, they have fallen by 52 per cent.

He made similar comments in April.

What else did Donald Trump’s trip entail?

Well, aside from presidential work like making $1 trillion in AI deals with the UAE and being ‘gifted’ with $400 million in private planes from the Qataris, a lot!

Upon his landing in Riyadh, Trump was treated to a McDonald’s truck. This meant he wouldn’t be left without his favourite fast food treats when in Saudi Arabia.
