Donnie Yen will reprise his role as blind assassin Caine – first seen in John Wick: Chapter 4 – in a spin-off film from the hugely successful franchise, it has been confirmed.
Lionsgate announced the film on Wednesday. Shooting for it will take place in Hong Kong next year. While specific plot details have not been released, the film will follow Caine after the events of Chapter Four and his release from obligations to the High Table.

Caine was a hit among viewers after he was introduced in John Wick: Chapter Four. While an old friend of Wick, and retired from being a hitman, he is coerced back into the world and ordered to kill the titular hero, which culminated in an iconic battle – although he managed to survive.
This new film is part of a deal recently signed by Lionsgate and Chad Stahelski to expand the John Wick universe. Viewers have already enjoyed miniseries The Continental: From the World of John Wick on Peacock last year, and, next year, Ballerina will be released, which will star Ana de Armas as an assassin.

Action history
The film continues Yen’s history in action films. The actor and martial artist has appeared in numerous films over the years, including xXx: Return of Xander Cage and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Yen has been reported as saying that he is excited to return to the role, adding that Caine is an “incredible character with a haunted past.”
There has been no confirmation of when the film will be coming to theaters.
