Director Tim Burton’s involvement made season 1 highly anticipated and as a result, shattered streaming records. However, it was Jenna Ortega’s casting as the titular terror that drove the show’s success in 2022.

Production on Wednesday season 2 wrapped two years later in late 2024. A new photo has been shared of Ortega as Wednesday to celebrate filming coming to an end. The caption reads: “Rest in Production. That’s a wrap on Season 2.”

Wednesday season 1 presents a modernized version of Wednesday Addams. A teenage physic who while learning to harness her powers, becomes entangled in a murder mystery plot against her new school.
While working with her friends, Wednesday tries to uncover who behind a monster killing Nevermore students and facility. Facing many twists and turns, Wednesday finally uncovers the monster’s identity at the end of season 1.
Although season 2’s plot summary is being kept under wraps, show creators promise it’ll be darker than season 1.
“This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” Wednesday creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough told Tudum.

Wednesday season 2 – who is returning?
Wednesday is continuing her adventures at Nevermore Academy alongside some fresh faces. Seeing these new faces, it’s obvious we will meet new members of the Addams family, although some familiar people are also making a return. Netflix released a Wednesday season 2 sneak peek, showing Ortega behind the scenes.
The behind-the-scenes look at season 2 revealed that Ortega will be joined by many of season 1’s regulars.
Luckily for us, both Addams’ parents will return, with Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán). Look at the trailer and you’ll see the Addams’ son Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) is also back. It’s also hinted that the Addams family will have a bigger role in season 2. This includes the introduction of new characters alongside existing ones.
Reuniting with Wednesday is Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) Wednesday’s best friend. We know by the end of season 1, Wednesday and Enid are closer than ever as Enid finds her werewolf self. Wednesday’s other bestie and handy sidekick Thing also returns.

Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday) returns as Wednesday’s frenemy, now in a less hostile state. Teaming up, Wednesday and Bianca fought Crackstone together in season 1’s end.
Nevermore classmates will rejoin season 2. Eugene (Moosa Mostafa) and Ajax (Georgie Farmer) appear as series regulars alongside the Addams family. Deputy Ritchie Santiago (Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo) also steps into a series regular role.
Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) and Sheriff Donovan Galpin (Jamie McShane) return in guest roles.
Although not seen in the trailer, season 1 villain Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) will also return in season 2. We don’t know how yet but we will soon find out.
When will season 2 be released?
Wednesday fans are still waiting for a confirmed release date for season 2.
Details shared by Netflix reveal that season 2 will arrive in 2025 but there is no concrete release date yet. With the recent announcement that season 2 filming has wrapped, we expect that teasers—and hopefully a trailer—won’t be far behind.
Tease as they might, cast members and showrunners are dropping hints about season 2. “Our goal this season was to introduce fresh faces and bring in acting legends we’ve always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore,” explained showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar.
Wednesday season 2 will surely bring an exciting mix of new and familiar faces, and we can’t wait to see them.
