Wednesday season 1 series recap

Wednesday season 1 begins introducing us to the teenager Wednesday, a psychic outcast who plays a prank on her brother Pugsley’s (Isaac Ordonez) bullies. As a result, she gets kicked out of school.
Wednesday is sent by her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán) to Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts to learn to harness her powers.
Here, Wednesday meets several important people, including her roommate Enid (Emma Myers), the sheriff’s son Tyler (Hunter Doohan), and classmate Xavier (Percy Hynes White). She attends court-ordered therapy with Dt Kinbott (Riki Lindhome). Wednesday has a vision of her classmate Rowan being killed, and when he tries to kill her, a monster gets him first.
Wednesday begins investigating the murders after staff at the school deny Rowan’s death. However, Rowan reappears unharmed and confused. Wednesday confronts him, only to find that Rowan is disguised as the school’s principal, Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie.)
Later, Wednesday discovers a secret library within the school where she finds a book with a picture missing. She unexpectedly gets captured.
What else happens in Wednesday season 1?

Wednesday is captured by the elite secret student society called The Nightshades. This also includes Xaiver and Bianca.
Xavier offers Wednesday an invite to join but she declines. However, when she sees the missing picture in the book, she notices it is a picture of the town’s pilgrim and founding father, Joseph Crackstone.
Wednesday continues investigating Joseph Crackstone, finding his pilgrim meeting house. Soon after, she has a vision of her ancestor Goody Addams. Wednesday then encounters the monster once more, tracking it and discovering that it’s human. The monster attacks again and she sneaks into the morgue to look at the victim.
After following Xavier, she finds him with wounds on his neck and follows him into the woods. She discovers his art room and finds Xavier’s paintings of the monster, which he explains by saying he sees the monster in his dreams.
What else happens in Wednesday’s investigation?
Wednesday goes to the dance with Tyler in disguise to continue investigating the monster. At the dance, Wednesday envisions her friend Eugene (Moosa Mostafa) getting killed by the monster. He goes into a coma.
Wednesday’s parents visit for Parents’ Day and she asks them about what happened when her father was accused of murdering Garret Gates. Subsequently, she finds out her mother stabbed him in self-defence to protect Gomez. In addition, Wednesday discovers Garret mistakenly took some poison meant for Nevermore students. The poison killed him and proved Gomez to be innocent.

Later, Wednesday visualises Goody near Garett’s House. When Wednesday, Enid and Tyler go to the house, they discover that the room of Garret’s sister Laurel houses parts of the people who were killed. The monster attacks and they find Tyler is injured.
Wednesday investigates the monster, discovering that Crackstone, the Gates family and everything else is interconnected. She learns from her Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) that the monster is called Hyde and has a master who helps it transform.
What happens at the end of season 1?
Wednesday goes on a bit of a rollercoaster towards season 1’s end.
She is positive that Xaiver is the monster and that Kinbott is his master. She goes on a date with Tyler, only to find out that Thing has been stabbed. Wednesday accuses Kinbott of being Laurel Gates, but Kinbott is attacked and killed by the monster, disproving that theory.
So… who is the Hyde?
The relationship between Tyler and Wednesday continues to grow, resulting in a kiss, which leads to Wednesday having a vision that Tyler killed Kinbott. In response, she captures him with the Nightshades intending to make him turn but the sheriff saves him. Tyler later admits to being the Hyde when he’s alone with Wednesday.
Wednesday gets expelled by Wheems and Wednesday talks to Eugene in the hospital, who tells her one of the killers had red boots like their teacher, Miss Thornhill. Wednesday confronts Miss Thornhill about being Laurel Gates with the help of Wheems, and Miss Thornhill kills Wheems.
Laurel captures Wednesday with the intent to kill all Nevermore students by using Wednesday’s blood to bring back Joseph Crackstone. Wednesday and her friends fight Crackstone, Laurel tries to stop them but Eugene kills her with his beekeeping skills.
Nevermore closes for the semester, and on the way home, Wednesday gets a threatening anonymous message saying “I’m watching you” with a GIF of her being killed.
This is where season 1 ends. The mystery hangs over Wednesday’s head of who is stalking her. Consequently, the door is left open on what new threats lie at Nevermore in Wednesday season 2.
