It was the hit Disney movie that rocketed onto our screens in 2016.

And now Moana fans can rejoice – as a second movie is about to be released!

Hitting theaters on November 27 this year, Moana 2 will once again star Auliʻi Cravalho as the titular character, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as shapeshifting demigod Maui.

Temuera Morrison and Nicole Scherzinger will also play Tui and Sina, Moana’s father and mother.

According to the movie’s synopsis, the sequel takes place three years after the original story.

The film will see Moana “on an expansive journey in search of people beyond the shores of Motunui”, the island where she lives.

It continued, “Joined by Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced”.

Lucky fans were first treated to a glimpse of the new movie at the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23.

Cravalho performed alongside dancers and drummers from Nonosina Polynesia – where Moana is based – and the audience listened to We’re Back from the new soundtrack, written by Grammy-winning songwriters Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.

Following the performance, Johnson hit the stage to greet fans.

Following the showcase, fans took to social media to react to the new trailer – and the general consensus seemed to be that November can’t come around quick enough for these animation fans!
