Emily Brontë fans, rejoice – as a new movie adaptation of Wuthering Heights is on the way.

The 1847 novel is being taken on once more, this time by Emerald Fennell.

The actor and filmmaker, 38, has received global recognition in recent years with movies such as Promising Young Woman – which won her the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay – and last year’s twisted thriller, Saltburn.

And now she will tackle the passionate story, which was the only novel by Brontë, before she died at the age of 30.

In true Hollywood fashion, the adaptation wouldn’t be the same without a little glamor – and Fennell has enlisted the help of two very famous faces to bring the characters to life.

Jacob Elordi – whom Fennell cast as Felix Catton in Saltburn – is set to play Heathcliff, an orphan who is fostered by the wealthy Earnshaw family.

Of course, much of the plot centers around the passionate and tumultuous relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, who will be played by Margot Robbie in the adaptation.

While there’s no doubt that the star studded cast will draw in crowds to the box office, fans of the novel were less pleased by the decision to cast Elordi and Robbie in the leading roles.

Here’s what they had to say about the decision via Twitter/X…
