The planned start of filming of the second season of Amazon Prime’s hugely successful superhero series Gen V has been postponed indefinitely following the death of Chance Perdomo.

Perdomo, 27, was one of the leads on Gen V – he played Andre Anderson – and was set to play a major role in the new season.

News broke last week that Perdomo, who was born in Las Vegas but raised in England, had died in a motorcycle accident when travelling through upstate New York. He was said to be heading to Toronto to start filming on Gen V.

Perdomo’s breakthrough role came in 2018 on critically acclaimed BBC Three film Killed By My Debt. He later moved to the US, playing Ambrose Spellman on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, before starring in Gen V.

Production on Gen V, which was set to start on April 8, has unsurprisingly been halted. Mostly, this is down to the shock of Perdomo’s passing and the grief it has caused among the cast.

However, Perdomo was set to play a leading role in season two, which will mean either his role will have to be recast, or the scripts for the season will need to be heavily rewritten to reflect his absence.

Gen V, a spin-off from The Boys, received positive reviews when it debuted in September 2023. The series follows student superheroes being put through their paces at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. The comedy-drama follows the students lives and the moral dilemmas they face.
