Gears of War Trilogy May Expand Beyond Xbox
For years, Xbox’s Gears of War, remained staples of the brand, drawing players to purchase its consoles. However, a recent rumor has sparked excitement and concerns among the gaming community.
Microsoft First shared about this strategy in December 2024, and it was also anticipated back then that titles like Halo, Gear of War and more could see the release on other platforms.
Now recently, the rumors began circulating after a Spanish YouTuber, eXtas1s, dropped the details about the rumored collection. According to the insider, the Gears of War Trilogy Collection could launch across multiple platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. eXstas1s claimed that (translation via Restera),
“I can talk about Gears Collection because Gears Collection has cost me a lot to corroborate its existence, but it seems that it exists, and I can confirm that at the moment in which Gears Collection is announced, which I don’t know when it will be but it will be announced as multiplatform day one.
I repeat again. When these kinds of remasters are announced, remasters of the old Gears games will be able to play cross-platform simultaneously. The only thing I haven’t been able to confirm is the launch of a Switch version, but it can be played cross-platform on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
This collection is reportedly going to launch the remastered version of Gear of War games, offering a the new experience for new audience. Microsoft is undoubtedly working on its approach towards gaming, expanding their titles beyond the single platform.
Fans React to Microsoft’s Multi-Platform Strategy
The company has also bought the Activision recently and is now rigorously focusing on making Xbox exclusive available on other platforms. However, this news has resulted in different reactions just like when Microsoft announced this plan.
Some fans are happy that they will finally get to lay hands on exclusives while others raised concerns. They are of an opinion that by doing so such games will lose their exclusivity and won’t feel special anymore.
Despite the mixed feelings, many fans are hopeful about the transition, recalling the nostalgic memories they created while playing Gears of War with friends on Xbox 360. Switch users are wondering if this collection will include a Nintendo Switch version; this has not been confirmed yet.
Once again, fans must remind themselves that these are still just rumors and they have to wait for the official announcement, which may happen at the Xbox’s big summer showcase later this year.
