US heavyweight boxing legend George Foreman has died at the age of 76. His family announced the news with a heartfelt statement on his Instagram, on 21 March 2025.

Neither Foreman’s family or officials have released the official cause of death, but The New York Times has reported that he died in a hospital in Houston, Texas. He was surrounded by loved ones and passed away peacefully.

Foreman’s brother Roy Foreman told the publication that the boxing great’s cause of death was not yet clear. His fans, however, have already begun to come up with several theories.
How did George Foreman die?
Details surrounding his cause of death are currently unknown and his last social media activity showed him in good spirits.
Foreman’s last Instagram posts were in October and November 2024. One showed him looking healthy and smiling as he dug into a slice of cake, with the caption “Can you believe 50 years ago, the “Rumble in the Jungle,” fighting Muhammad Ali. Looking back at the best time of my life—celebrate with me with a slice of cake, as I relive the “Rope-a-Dope.””.
His final post came just days later, with Foreman reflecting on his victory over Michael Moorer 30 years on. The boxing legend wrote “I started my day believing “All things are possible if we only believe.” The power of a prayer; great or small. ( Now a prayer over my Lunch) “that I only have 1, helping.” George Foreman.
Muhammad Ali, with whom Foreman famously fought in the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle, passed away in 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he fought for over 30 years. It has long been suggested that the cause of his condition was the result of the punishing head blows he took during his boxing career. In contrast, Foreman did not develop the disease and appeared to be unaffected by any long-term complications from his own time in the ring.
Fan theories on Foreman’s cause of death
Minutes after Foreman’s passing was announced on social media, fans began posting videos of him receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. Some suggested that the vaccination may have played a role in his demise.
“It’s notable that he was a prominent promoter of the c0vid vax jab. Even doing paid commercials. May God have mercy on his soul” wrote @DiligentDenizen on X.
@condina_cosmo commented “Damn that shot took him out pretty quick”.
@AwenEnergy added “George Foreman looks healthy enough to fight 4 years ago. Now he dies suddenly? There’s nothing I can find on any chronic illness, hospitalizations, or any sickness that would have led to his decline and death today. Everyday is a gift. We’ll miss you George.”
Others on social media are circulating a conspiracy theory, suggesting that Foreman died from a heart attack, but that this is being kept quiet to avoid damaging the George Foreman Grills brand.
@realJustATheory wrote on X “Not one news agency is listing cause of death. The normal side of me says “Damn. Lost a great boxing legend”. The Conspiracy side says “MF died of a heart attack. They aren’t listing cause of death because it will hurt the Foreman Grill sales!”.
At this time, no official cause of death has been confirmed, and these theories remain speculative and unsubstantiated.
