A new trailer for GTA 6 has been released. Rockstar Games are not everyone’s favorite people, considering they recently pushed back the game release by six months. However, the trailer has long-time fans of the franchise forgiving the game maker.
The game will release on 26 May 2026, just over a year away. Rockstar announced the change last week.

What happened in the new GTA 6 trailer?
In another trailer released on 6 May, Rockstar Games gave fans a sneak peek at the highly anticipated game. Soon, people will stop saying “we got X before GTA 6”!
Here is the full trailer.
The trailer begins by introducing us to one of the main protagonists, Jason Duval, a rough-around-the-edges, albeit hot man. He doesn’t seem to have lots of money. In the seaside state of Leonida, he goes to pick up Lucia Caminos from prison.
It is hinted that Jason may’ve been in prison. When someone working at the prison asks him, “Have I seen you here before?” he responds, “You might have”.
Early on, it’s established that Lucia and Jason are or were a couple, if that hint at a sex scene is anything to go by.

The trailer hints at the fact that Lucia and Jason live a life of crime, but they don’t appear to be doing big scores like previous GTA characters. At one point, a character tells Jason, “They’ve got your name, your address, they’ve got everything,” which suggests cops may play a big role in the game, like the corrupt cops Frank Tenpenny, Eddie Pulaski, and Jimmy Hernandez did in San Andreas.
However, the trailer description does read, ” when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America”. This suggests they are caught in the middle of a crime ring, but in what yet, viewers don’t know.
A cop character may be significant in the game

Some videos and theories have speculated that Jason may have a previous connection to law enforcement. Perhaps he is an ex-cop turned criminal, or he knows people who still work in the force that want to bring him down.
Others suggest Jason is an undercover cop and his association with Lucia is to catch her for her crimes. Although we don’t know why she was serving time at the prison, we can imagine it was for some bad crimes.

Lucia and Jason returning to a life of crime?
While this could be old, we think Lucia wearing a mask and pointing a gun at two men in uniform could suggest she’s back in the game. After all, Jason refers to it being their “fresh start”, which suggests the timeline primarily takes place after she’s released from prison.
Lots of the clips seem to focus on the relationship development between Lucia and Jason, which is a new thing for GTA 6. Previously, protagonists have been overwhelmingly male: Franklin, Michael, Trevor, CJ, Nico, Tommy Vercetti, and Claude Speed.
Not much is known about the wider story
Many moments in the trailer focus on the Miami-like setting of Vice City, establishing a new state where our protagonists will commit their crimes. What we like is that not much of the story is spoiled, which keeps fans guessing.

In conclusion, fans are elated with the new trailer and are getting excited about the new game.
While the graphics are stunning, the air of mystery created by the trailer is a smart way to build anticipation and get fans theorizing about what the game’s storyline is.
However, there is still a year to wait. Regardless, the excitement is real.
Stay tuned for GTA 6 updates!
