Hailee Steinfeld has made her mark in the recent Ryan Coogler horror film Sinners. As a result, people have become interested in Steinfeld and, namely, in her personal life. Steinfeld, 28, is engaged, and people are curious about her relationship with football star Josh Allen. Allen, 28, is a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.

Steinfeld is a prominent singer and actress, and so has had several public relationships. In 2016 to 2017, she was linked to Instagrammer Cameron Fuller. In 2019, she dated One Direction’s Niall Horan for about a year, and years later, she entered a relationship with Allen. Allen had a serious long-term relationship with his college sweetheart, Brittany Williams, from 2015 to around April 2023.
But we are not here to talk about exes. From first dates to engagements, let’s look back at Steinfeld and Allen’s two-year romance.
Hailey Steinfeld and Josh Allen: A Timeline
Fans of the Buffalo Bills star were shocked when he was linked to Steinfeld the month after his split. In late May 2023, the two were spotted close by in New York, and Allen had his arm on Steinfeld’s back, as per photos obtained by the New York Post.
The two were spotted on a string of dates, and their relationship was confirmed to People at the end of that month, saying they’d been “hanging out for a few weeks.”
On a sushi date, the two were busted in a photo taken by the owner of a restaurant in Chelsea, New York.
In June, sources continued to say the two were seeing each other, and their romance seemed to go from strength to strength. Leading into August, Allen addressed the relationship for the first time.
On the Pardon My Take podcast, he was asked if Steinfeld was his lady. “The fact that anybody cares about that still blows my mind,” he curtly answered.
In addition to expressing his confusion over people being interested in his relationship, he condemned photographers who tried to snap him and his girlfriend kissing on a boat.
Later in October, Steinfeld was spotted out with Allen’s mom, supporting him at a Bills game and at a hockey game.
2024 – engagement and established relationship
At the Golden Globes in 2024, Stenfield bluntly denied she was engaged, as rumors claimed she was. She did, however, spend time with Allen in California in January 2024.
At the end of the month, a source told People: “They’re both very family-oriented and driven, and they want to protect their relationship and keep it private. They’ve been on the same page with all of that.”

In July 2024, he confirmed his relationship with Steinfeld while the two were in Paris with a photo captioned, “Onward”. Although we can’t see her face, we recognize that long brown hair anywhere.
After a few months of quiet, Steinfeld addressed Allen in a newsletter, writing about her suspicious thoughts about how the two had gifted each other knives for Christmas, but paid each other quarters to avoid any harm in their relationship. Standard.
A month later, the two shared the news they’d gotten engaged on 22 November. In a photo captioned with the day of the engagement, the couple can be seen under a flower arch with Allen down on one knee.
After a great football season, Allen gushed over his wife-to-be and her support. “The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best,” he said.
2025 – Hailee Steinfeld and Josh, and public support
Moving into 2025, the two made their red carpet debut at the 2025 NFL Honors in February. They walked the carpet together and shared a kiss after Allen’s speech.
Addressing her, he said in the speech, “You’ve been my rock. You are my best friend, and I would not be standing on this stage if it weren’t for you.” Cutely, she posted a photo of Allen accepting his award, later saying, “That’s MVP Josh Allen to you”.
Allen responded in the comments with, “I love you”.
We love a supportive couple.
In late February, Steinfeld revealed that Allen proposed to her while in Malibu.
In April 2025, Allen accompanied Steinfeld to the Sinners premiere, and the two were pictured together.
In late April, he was asked what he thought of his fiancée and the movie at a press conference.
The 28-year-old replied, “It was awesome. A different world, a very cool experience. I’m so excited for her and so proud of her. And it’s getting some great reviews, it’s a fantastic movie. So go watch it.”
