Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series from 2002 to 2011, has shared his thoughts on the new upcoming HBO Harry Potter series.
The White Lotus season three star spoke candidly on the Awards Chatter podcast about the TV project that will reboot the franchise with a new cast.

Alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, Isaacs appeared as Draco Malfoy’s father in six of the eight Harry Potter films, which have collectively grossed over $7.7 billion at the worldwide box office.

Among the stars confirmed for the new series are John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost, who will portray Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, and Rubeus Hagrid, respectively.
“there’s gonna be another Lucius Malfoy, and he’s gonna be fantastic”
Isaacs, now 61, speaking of his time portraying the Death Eater in the films, said “I have to say, I’ll milk this, because this time next year, there’s gonna be another Lucius Malfoy.”
“And he’s gonna be fantastic, and I’ll be long forgotten,” he added. The actor, clearly acknowledging the fact that a new crop of stars will be stealing the spotlight, said “So I am savoring every round of applause I get.”
He also clarified that his comments are “not me fishing for compliments or more applause”, but merely accepting that time moves on and new projects arise.
“I’m just saying, they are making the TV series, and it will be brilliant,” he continued. “And I will be – just like I’m now last season’s White Lotus actor – I will be the [previous] iteration of Lucius Malfoy, and that’s fine by me.”
“I’ve had a good run,” he added.

The rumor mill is constantly turning when it comes to the new Harry Potter series, with many key roles still yet to be announced.
Appearing recently on the UK’s Jonathan Ross Show, Isaacs was asked who he’d like to see next don the iconic blonde wig.
“You were amazing as Lucius. The casting hasn’t yet been announced for that character, I don’t think… who would you like to see play Lucius Malfoy?” Ross asked.
“I don’t know… Danny Dyer?” Jason joked. “You, possibly?” he added with a grin.
He then revealed, “I know someone in the casting office, funnily enough. She came for dinner. You know what she told me? **** all!”
