Harry Styles was spotted at the announcement declaring Pope Leo XIV to be the leader of the Catholic church.

The pop superstar was photographed standing in Rome’s Vatican City crowd wearing sunglasses and a cap. He witnessed Cardinal Robert Prevost officially be announced as the holder of the top job.

It comes after 133 cardinals descended onto the area to pick a successor to Pope Francis. They were all sequestered away from public life until a two-thirds majority was found for one candidate.

The late pontiff passed away aged 88 on Easter Monday. His last acts of service included meeting with US Vice President JD Vance and condemn the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

What did the internet say about Harry Styles being the crowd?

The Grammy winner’s popping up in the crowd got the internet saying all sorts of things.

Career-wise, Styles hasn’t been as active since the conclusion of his sellout Love Tour. After his smash hit-filled music career, he has gone on to star in a string of movies like My Police

Styles has been rather silent on the other front, breaking his silence only to pay respects to his late One Directon band member Liam Payne.

Some called the move “random” but reflective of his general habits.

“Little did the pope know he was waving to Harry Styles,” someone joked on X.

Another made a similar joke, writing, “the pope seeing harry styles in the crowd today.”

Others took the time to ask if the viral account Pope Crave – which was launched by the same people who run Pop Crave – was run by the Sign of The Times singer.

“Is this account run by Harry Styles yes or no.”
