  • The Pubity exclusive poll saw the volcanic islands comfortably defeat California in the ‘You Decide’ series
  • Hawaii trounced California in the fifth and final round with 71% of the final vote
  • More ‘You Decide’ polls are on their way

Hawaii has comprehensively been voted as the ‘Best State to Visit’ in our recent Pubity ‘You Decide’ poll, defeating California 71% to 29% in the final round of voting.

The island state has long been a favourite with tourists looking to either escape the American mainland for a while or for those of us who have watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall more times than we care to remember. And now, it is Pubity’s very own official ‘Battle of the States’ champion. Which we’re sure the fine people of Hawaii are thrilled about. We should probably get a trophy made for them that we can hand deliver, actually. Will probably need a month over there to make sure it’s delivered safely and correctly (cc: management).

Naturally, the competition was not just fierce in the voting, but also the comments section of the final post, as Hawaii faced off with California. One follower replied, “As somebody who has lived in both places but I’m from Cali, I would say Hawaii is the better place to visit, but California is the better place to live. I would never choose to live in Hawaii again.”

Another commenter added, “No way Cali made it this far” while another reply read, “As a Californian, we should NOT be this high”. One rather diplomatic comment said, “People who live in Cali visit Hawaii and people who live in Hawaii visit Cali.”

Hawaii beat out Rhode Island, Texas, Colorado and Nevada en route to its final round victory. California, meanwhile, outpolled Louisiana, Florida, Alaska and New York before succumbing to Hawaii.

Keep your eyes peeled for more ‘You Decide’ polls coming your way in the very near future.
