Nobody Wants This became an instant hit when it was released on Netflix in September 2024.

And luckily for fans of the show, their immediate adoration for the series paid off – as the streaming service commissioned a second season just one month later!

Set to hit our screens by late 2025, the star-studded cast will be returning – as well as some brand new faces.

If, like us, you’ve been scratching your head as to where you’ve seen some of the cast members on TV before, here’s where you might have recognized them from…

Adam Brody – Noah

Adam Brody stars as Noah in Nobody Wants This.

And while he won our hearts in series one as the Jewish Rabbi, it’s far from the first time Brody has left us swooning.

The actor first came to our attention in 2002, when he was cast in on the third season of the comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls as Dave Rygalski, Lane’s bandmate and love interest.

But Brody’s big break came in 2003, when he starred as Seth Cohen in The O.C. (iykyk).

Playing the role until 2007, fans may also recognize Brody from his parts in movies such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Thank You for Smoking (2005), In the Land of Women (2007), and Jennifer’s Body (2009).

Brody has also appeared in the 2019 DC superhero film Shazam! and its 2023 sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods,

Other roles include the thriller films Ready or Not (2019) and Promising Young Woman (2020). He also starred in the mystery film The Kid Detective (2020) and the Hulu miniseries Fleishman Is in Trouble (2022).

Kristen Bell – Joanne

Co-starring in Nobody Wants This as Joanne – an agnostic podcaster who must seemingly convert to Judaism if she wants to pursue a romantic relationship with Noah – Bell’s career is also one that fans are sure to be familiar with.

The actor – who is good friends with Brody in real life! – had her breakout performance in 2004, as the title character in the television series Veronica Mars.

Playing the role for three years, Bell stepped into Mars’s shoes again in the 2014 spin-off film and the 2019 revival.

She also starred as Elle Bishop in the superhero drama series Heroes for a year from 2007. The same year, Bell took on a now-fan favorite role as the voice of the titular narrator in the teen drama series Gossip Girl – a job she played for five years, and once again in the 2021 standalone sequel.

Bell was also in the Showtime comedy series House of Lies for four years from 2012, and received a Golden Globe nomination for her leading role of Eleanor in the NBC comedy series The Good Place, which she played for four years until 2020 (FYI, Bell AND Brody were both nominated for Golden Globes for the first season of Nobody Wants This).

Film roles include the horror film Pulse (2006), and comedy films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), Couples Retreat (2009), You Again (2010), The Boss (2016), Bad Moms (2016), and A Bad Moms Christmas (2017).

And just when you thought she couldn’t get any more talented, you realize that Bell is also an amazing singer – as she voiced Princess Anna in the Disney animated films Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019). Phew!

Justine Lupe – Morgan

As much as we love Joanne’s relationship with Noah in the show, we’re also hooked to the dynamic between the podcaster and her sister/co-host, Morgan.

Played by Justine Lupe, we’re expecting big things for the sassy character in season two – as two people have already been announced to be joining the cast as her love interests.

Fans will know Lupe for her recurring parts in the sitcom Cristela in 2014, the crime drama Mr. Mercedes for two years until 2019, and her six year role the period comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from 2017.

Lupe has also acted in the films Not Fade Away (2012), Frances Ha (2013), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2017), and Luckiest Girl Alive (2022).

Timothy Simons – Sasha

Sasha is the older brother of Noah, and married to the formidable Esther – who is less than impressed by his flirty friendship with Morgan.

The character is played by Timothy Simons, who enjoyed a successful seven-year stint as Jonah Ryan on the HBO series Veep from 2012.

Simons received five nominations and one win for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for the part.

He also appeared on the series Candy (2022) as Pat Montgomery.

Jackie Tohn – Esther

As mentioned, Esther is the wife of Sasha, and the couple share their daughter Miriam, who celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in the last episode of season one.

Viewers will know that Jackie Tohn, who plays the role, also stars as Melanie ‘MelRose’ Rosen on the Netflix series GLOW, and Courtenay Fortney in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys and Gen V.

Other television credits for Tohn include The Sopranos, Strangers with Candy, Angel, Rules of Engagement, Veronica Mars and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Like Bell, Tohn can also sing! In 2009, the actor appeared on the eighth season of American Idol and made it through to the Top 36 and the Hollywood rounds.

Tovah Feldshuh – Bina

Yes, Bell and Tohn both have pipes… but Tovah Feldshuh is a Broadway star of 50 years!

The actor plays Noah’s overbearing mother Bina in Nobody Wants This, but has earned four Tony Award nominations for her time on the stage.

She has also received two Emmy Award nominations for Holocaust and Law & Order, and appeared in such films as A Walk on the Moon, She’s Funny That Way, and Kissing Jessica Stein.

In 2015, Feldshuh played the role of Deanna Monroe on AMC’s television adaptation of The Walking Dead.

The same year, Feldshuh had a recurring role on the musical comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend as Naomi Bunch, the mother of the show’s main character, Rebecca, played by Rachel Bloom. She played the part until 2019.

Stephanie Faracy – Lynn

While she may drive Joanne and Morgan crazy, viewers were enamoured with their mother Lynn in series one.

Stephanie Faracy, who plays the health-conscious mom, has had leading roles in a number of sitcoms, most significantly as Ellen in True Colors for two years until 1992. She currently plays Lisa Lawson on the comedy series Uncoupled.

Faracy has also had supporting roles in films including Heaven Can Wait (1978), Scavenger Hunt (1979), Blind Date (1987), The Great Outdoors (1988), Hocus Pocus (1993), Sideways (2004), Flightplan (2005), and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016).
