Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed she will be reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming Hunger Games movie – but how much do you know about her?

Ever since it was announced that the latest book in the Hunger Games series – a prequel to the main books – would be turned into a movie, there has been speculation about whether Jennifer Lawrence would return to her iconic role of Katniss Everdeen.
But now industry news sites such as Deadline have said that Jennifer, along with original co-star Josh Hutcherson, will both return. While The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is a prequel, the characters will appear as adults in flash forward scene.
This news will be welcomed by the legions of Hunger Games fans. Jennifer’s portrayal of Katniss has become iconic, and it was the role that helped catapult her to stardom more than a decade ago.
But how much do you know about Jennifer Lawrence? Here are some facts you might not know about her:
She’s the youngest female to be nominated for three Oscars
Some Hollywood actors spend their whole careers hoping to get a nomination for an Oscar – any Oscar – without success. But Jennifer scored three nominations by the tender age of 23 – including two for best actress – making her the youngest actress to get three nominations. Of those two nominations for best actress, she won one.
She’s method in her acting
Jennifer has had a varied career and took on many challenging roles. But she doesn’t just learn her lines for a role, she also learns the skills that her characters have, which some others might draw the line at. While practicing archery for her role in The Hunger Games isn’t out of the ordinary, for her role in Winter’s Bone, Jennifer learnt how to chop wood and even skin squirrels.
Her Doritos obsession nearly got her into trouble
Jennifer is well known for her love of corn snack Doritos, particularly the Cool Ranch flavour. However, her snacking preference nearly got her into trouble on the set of 2013 movie American Hustle. Filming is a long process and, when peckish, she would eat Doritos while still in costume, but this causes crumbs and meant she ended up staining several dresses because of this. To combat this, wardrobe produced several identical dresses for her, meaning she always had a clean one on hand.
She started out in TV
Jennifer’s career started in TV when she was a teenager. After various small guest roles in shows, her first break was as a main cast member of sitcom The Bill Engvall Show, which ran from 2007-09. Jennifer played one of the children of the main character, Bill Pearson.
She advocates for young people
Jennifer is a strong advocate for various causes, including children and young people. In 2015, she set up the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, which advocates for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which provide voluntary after-school programs for young people, and the Special Olympics, the largest sports organization in the world for people with learning disabilities.
She’s a huge fan of Jeff Bridges
Jeff Bridges is a Hollywood legend, winning an Oscar and a Golden Globe – among others – over his long career. Jennifer is a massive fan of his, but was star-struck when she finally met him. The incident happened at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con. As Jennifer approached, she didn’t realise he was being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, and she hurried away. But Jeff called her back and the interviewer handed her the microphone to take over the interview.
