Alien: Romulus, one of 2024’s most successful horror movies, has finally secured a digital release.

What’s more, you don’t even have to wait long to enjoy this nail-biting space horror at home as it’s available to stream on selected platforms right now.

Directed by Fede Álvarez, the same filmmaker behind 2013’s Evil Dead remake, Alien: Romulus hit cinemas in August earlier this year and quickly emerged as one of the surprise hits of the summer.

Set between the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 franchise starter Alien and James Cameron’s gun-happy 1986 action sequel Aliens, Romulus told a stand-alone story following a new group of survivors pitted against a new but equally terrifying Xenomorph.

The film was led by a bunch of relative newcomers, including Civil War’s Cailee Spaeny, Shadow and Bone’s Archie Renaux and The Last of Us star Isabela Merced but that didn’t stop audiences from eating it up like one of its titular space terrors.

When all was said and done, the film ended its theatrical run by earning $350 million worldwide and wowing critics and audiences alike. At the time of writing, Alien: Romulus currently holds a 80% critic score and 85% audience score on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes.

Is Alien: Romulus available to stream?

Yes – Alien: Romulus received a digital release in America and the UK on 15 October 2024, meaning viewers can welcome a Xenomorph into their homes just in time for Halloween.

Currently, Álvarez’s sequel is available to purchase on premium on-demand services like Prime Video for $29.99/£19.99, with a bonus X-Ray edition offering a deeper look at the making of the movie. If you’re not after a long-term relationship, then Alien: Romulus is also available to rent from just $24.99/£15.99.

The film is also available to watch via other digital streamers such as AppleTV, VUDU, iTunes and more outlets.

When will Alien: Romulus arrive on Disney+?

Seen as 20th Century Studios is now owned by Disney, Alien: Romulus will eventually find its way to the House of Mouse’s dedicated streamer Disney+. Unfortunately, we’re still in the dark about when that might be.

That said, those eager for more Alien action can find each of the franchise’s various instalments on the popular Disney platform, including 1979’s Alien, 1986’s Aliens, 1992’s Alien 3, And 1997’s Alien: Resurrection.

Scott’s prequel stories including 2012’s Prometheus and 2017’s Alien: Covenant are also available to watch on Disney+.
