Another Michael Jackson documentary is set to premiere in March. It is a sequel to Leaving Neverland, Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson. Leaving Neverland is a two-part documentary that HBO did in 2019.

The documentary follows accusations made by two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck that Jackson sexually abused them as children. It alleges the relationships they had with the singer, with both men in their thirties speaking out about their alleged experiences with the King Of Pop.

The documentary was an instant success for HBO and won an Emmy for Best Documentary in 2019. Before Jackson died in 2009, he was accused multiple times of sexual abuse, although they were never legally proven. Throughout his life, he vehemently denied such allegations. HBO was involved in a legal battle with Jackson’s estate over the documentary. In 2020, HBO lost a lawsuit against Michael Jackson’s estate, which argued that Leaving Neverland broke an old agreement from a 1992 concert film. The estate had sued HBO for $100 million over the violation.

Now director Dan Reed is back to direct a sequel, Surviving Michael Jackson, although HBO is not involved. The sequel will air on a different channel and is set to release on 18 March. With the date coming close, here is how to watch the follow-up documentary when it comes out.

What is Leaving Neverland 2 about?

Leaving Neverland 2 or Surviving Michael Jackson will catch up with Safechuck and Robson. According to Variety, the documentary will be about “the personal toll on Robson and Safechuck”. It follows the backlash and emotions following the 2019 documentary. Initially, there was controversy around the documentary because the accusations were never proven. Also, many people still appreciated him as a singer and entertainer.

Also, a big part of the documentary will be the legal proceedings between the men and Jackson’s estate. The one-hour film vows to ” show the extent to which the Jackson estate has fought to prevent James and Wade from having their day in court.” Well then!

Where can you watch Surviving Michael Jackson/Leaving Neverland 2?

If you are in the UK, you can watch the documentary when it premieres on the UK Channel 4 on 18 March. Previously Channel 4 aired Leaving Neverland on 6 and 7 March 2019 after it had premiered on HBO.

For now, there is no information on where else to stream the upcoming documentary for the US. However, given the legal battle, we don’t think HBO will be involved. Stay tuned for updates on where to stream.

Is there a trailer for Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson?
