- TikTok users show Hurricane Milton hitting Disney World
- Theme park is currently closed
- Company expected to lose “£150-$200 million”

Holidaymakers have taken to TikTok to share scenes of Hurricane Milton Walt Disney World devastation as the category three storm continues to batter Florida.
A video posted from the popular TikTok account @JustThemeParks appears to show the storm raging through Disney’s Art of Animation resort, with rain swirling and trees blowing viciously in extreme wind.
The theme park made the rare decision to close its doors on Tuesday 8 October, with the venue remaining closed throughout Wednesday 9 October, alongside Universal Orlando, SeaWorld and Orlando’s primary airport.
All are expected to remain closed on Thursday 10 October until the weather event which has been described as a “once-in-a-century” event has passed.
“A hurricane team was brought in”
Better safe than sorry – but what about those who were already on holiday at Walt Disney World before the storm hit and are now stuck there? Well, many of them have taken to TikTok to share clips of how Hurricane Milton is impacting their trip.
Another video posted by the account @Ob1rn shows those on vacation hunkered down in one of the park’s many resorts while Hurricane Milton rages outside.
“We’re at the Boardwalk Villas at Walt Disney World,” says the voice-over accompanying the video.
“We have a hurricane team that was brought in… and we have a coffee bar and they’re bringing in box lunches,” continues the TikToker, pointing out that anyone in a yellow shirt is there specifically to help visitors wait out the storm.
Meanwhile, other hotels have hosted their own Disney dance parties to keep visitors entertained while some tenacious guests have ventured out into the rain to “report live” from the storm.
Disney set to lose between $150 and $200 million
“Walt Disney World” and “closed” are rarely used together in the same sentence and when you discover that the company is set to lose between $150 and $200 million thanks to Hurricane Milton, you start to understand why.
Financial outlet Forbes spoke to a Goldman Sachs expert who has projected these massive losses which are expected to have a huge impact on Disney’s next quarter.
At the time of writing, Disney has not commented on these reports.
