The first image from the much anticipated Among Us animated series has been released on social media by CBS Studios and Innersloth.
The show, based on the hit game, is a collaboration between CBS Eye Animation Productions and Innersloth, the game studio behind the original game. Owen Dennis is on board as creator and executive producer.
The series will be based on the premise of the hugely popular mobile game, where crewmates on a spaceship must come together to work out which of them has been replaced by a shapeshifting alien that is now sabotaging the ship as well as gradually killing the crew.
On the official @innerslothsdevs Instagram account, a post shows a still portraying a pizza party, with a bloodstained banner in the background – which judging from this is seems like the show will be in keeping with the game’s distinctive animation style.

Among Us was released in 2018, to little initial success. But them game exploded in popularity in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic when various popular YouTubers and Twitch streamers – including Sodapoppin, Mr Beast and PewDiePie – started playing it. Part of its popularity was its multi-player function, meaning people could play together while being socially distanced. It passed 100 million downloads in September 2020 and at one point that month had 3.8 million simultaneous players.
It was later ported to the Nintendo Switch – on which it sold more than 3 million digital units – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in and spawned a range of merchandise and clothing.
