- One of Inside Out 2’s voice stars has given a promising update
- Inside Out 2 was the biggest grossing film of 2024
- There were nine years between the release of the original Inside Out and its sequel

Ever since Inside Out 2 charmed audiences last year there have been questions about if there will be an Inside Out 3 – now one of its stars has spoken out.
Inside Out 2, which continued the story of Riley and her emotions in headquarters and how she (and they) deal with growing up and the arrival of new emotions, was a huge hit with movie fans last year. The movie took $1.699 billion at the global box office, making it the biggest grossing movie of the year by some distance.
Inside Out 2 became the biggest grossing animated movie of all time too. But that record has since been eclipsed by Chinese movie Ne Zha 2, which has taken more than £2.1 billion across the world. What is Ne Zha 2 all about – find out here.
Inside Out 3 coming
Of course, after such success, fans have been wondering if there will be a third instalment of the Inside Out franchise.
So far, there has been little to tell, but Paul Walter Hauser, who voiced Embarrassment in Inside Out 2, has given a promising update. Talking to ComicBook.com about his involvement in Major League Wrestling, he also mentioned Inside Out.
“I heard we might be doing another one,” he said. “I don’t know when or how or where, but the movie just resonated with people of all ages and it really, I think what’s different about the Inside Out movies from other animated films is they don’t really treat children as less intellectual beings.”
Long wait ahead
That certainly sounds promising. Of course, after the success of both Inside Out films, a third would seem to be a formality, given studios’ increasing reliance on established franchises to deliver big numbers. However, neither Pixar nor Disney have yet to give any official updates.
However, even if moves are underway to produce an Inside Out 3, we are likely to have to wait quite some time to see it. There was nine years between the release of the first and second movies, for instance. Anything towards the movie will be at an early stage and animated movies such as this take a long time to make. So we should perhaps not get too excited just yet.
