- It was one of the biggest movies of the year – and now Disney has announced that an Inside Out spin-off series will land in December
- The show will consist of four episodes, and be available to stream on Disney+
- The cast once more includes Amy Poehler, Liza Lapira and Tony Hale

The second movie has been crowned the biggest animated movie of all time.
And now Inside Out fans are in for a treat – as a spinoff show is on the way!
The series – titled Dream Productions – will air on Disney+ in December 11, and is set in the period between the two films.
Of course, the four-part limited show wouldn’t be the same without some familiar names filling out the cast list.
Amy Poehler, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith will once again voice the five core emotions (Joy, Disgust, Fear, Anger and Sadness), with Kensington Tallman playing 13-year-old Riley Andersen.
According to the official synopsis, the show will introduce a big film studio working in Riley’s mind – titled, you guessed it, Dream Productions.
A place where every fantasy can come true whilst the protagonist is asleep and modeled after a Hollywood studio, this Dream HQ is where Joy (Poehler) and the other emotions send Riley’s complex memories for a bit of REM processing.
Meanwhile, director Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell) will face a nightmare of her own as she’s trying to create her next hit dream alongside the overly confident daydream director Xeni (Richard Ayoade), who’s looking to have his big break into night dreams.
Inside Out 2 takes the crown
Hitting theaters in June this year, Inside Out 2 smashed box office records by becoming the biggest-grossing film worldwide the year so far.
It overtook the 2019 remake of The Lion King to take the crown becoming the biggest animated movie of all time, after taking more than $1.68 billion at the global box office.
In overtaking The Lion King, Inside Out 2 also now stands as the ninth biggest movie of all time.
This is just another record for Inside Out 2. It had already overtaken Frozen 2 as the biggest animated sequel and The Incredibles 2 as the highest-grossing Pixar film of all time.
