Jeremy Allen White has joined the mass ranks of actors to take on a role in a major Hollywood franchise by signing up to play a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Mandalorian & Grogu plot hint

White, who shot to fame as chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in FX series The Bear, for which he won Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG awards, will voice Rotta The Hutt, the son of Jabba The Hutt in The Mandalorian & Grogu, Variety confirmed.

The casting of White also gives a small indication of what the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu may be. Thus far, details of what could be in store for Din Djarin and his adopted son have been thin on the ground. But the appearance of Rotta The Hutt is interesting.

The Disney+ series The Mandalorian is set after the events of Return of the Jedi – where fans will know that Princess Leia kills Jabba. In addition, The Book of Boba Fett – a spinoff from The Mandalorian – told how Jabba’s death left a power vacuum in the crime world on Tatooine. While two of Jabba’s cousins looked to take over his territory, Boba Fett defeated them both and took over.

So could The Mandalorian and Grogu get mixed up with Rotta and, by extension, Boba Fett too?

Stars lined up

The Mandalorian and Grogu is already filming, with an anticipated big screen release of May 2026. Jon Favreau is in the director’s chair – he has also written the script – while Pedro Pascal will reprise his role of Din Djarin. Sigourney Weaver will also play an as-yet-unnamed role.

This film is the first big screen outing for the Star Wars franchise since 2019 and the conclusion of the Rise of Skywalker trilogy.
