- TJ Watt and wife Dani Rhodes announced they were expecting their first child, earlier in the week
- The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker was interviewed by his brother JJ ahead of a 20-10 victory over the LA Chargers
- Both Watt brothers have won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award
Life couldn’t get much better for TJ Watt at the moment. He recently announced that he and his wife, former soccer player Dani Rhodes, are expecting their first child together. And his Pittsburgh Steelers are currently 3-0 and sitting atop the AFC North in the NFL.
And the feelgood factor continued for the 29-year-old linebacker as he shared a wholesome moment with his older brother, legendary former Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt, live on-air during CBS’ pre-game NFL Today, yesterday.
After confirming that his “lather has been applied” the younger Watt brother shared his hope that some good pre-game tunes would be played in the locker room ahead of the clash with the Chargers at Acrisure Stadium.
But once the formalities were out of the way, JJ shared a more heartfelt moment with his kid brother, catching TJ off-guard with a gesture of a miniature ‘Dad 90’ jersey for his impending newborn.
“I know you’re trying to get in that right headspace,” JJ started, veering the analysis talk onto a more brotherly track, “I know you and Dani just announced that you guys are pregnant and expecting your first child. Me personaly, knowing what that why means and knowing how important that is, I wanted to give you a little gift before you head back into the locker room to say congratulations on your new child and wish you guys all the best.”
TJ’s response drew fits of laughter from JJ’s co-hosts, as he replied, “Thanks man… I appreciate you trying to mess up my headspace” to which JJ countered, “Hey, I got 10 sacks in 10 games after I had Koa…” before TJ interrupted, “We get it Jay, we get it. Keep pumping yourself up”.
The siblings, who have both been recipients of the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award, finished up their interview with a couple of “I love you, brother” exchanges as TJ headed to the locker room, in one of the most wholesome moments you’ll likely see all season.
Watts’ Steelers currently sit top of the AFC North, following victories over the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and yesterday’s win over the Chargers.
