Joey Chestnut has long been a legend in the world of competitive hotdog eating, but now he has shown his skills aren’t just limited to wieners with the completion of a new epic eating challenge.

Wing wonder

Buffalo Wild Wings challenged Chestnut to eat 200 boneless wings with the promise that if he did, the chain would extend its all-you-can-eat boneless wing challenge until August 14.

Never one to duck a challenge, Chestnut stepped up to the plate and duly demolished 200 wings in under 38 minutes. That’s roughly five wings per minute, or one every 12 seconds on average.

Buffalo Wild Wings were true to their word and immediately extended the offer, which is open every Monday and Wednesday and had run from May and was set to end on July 10. Thanks to Chestnut’s work, diners have 12 more opportunities to take advantage of the offer – although whether they can eat 200 wings in a sitting is another matter.

Long eating career

This is just the latest triumph in a long competitive eating career for Chestnut. He has won the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest in New York on 16 occasions, including every year from 2016 to 2023.

Chestnut also holds the world record for eating most hot dogs in two minutes: 76, along with 54 other hot dog eating related records.

This challenge serves as a warm-up for Chestnut, who will be going head-to-head with long-time competitive eating rival Takeru Kobayashi later this year. The pair will come face to face in Netflix’s Chestnut vs Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef – a live event that will be screen on September 2.
