- Lionsgate confirm John Wick 5 is in the works
- Keanu Reeves not yet confirmed to star
- Reeves makes a cameo in spin-off movie

Keanu Reeves seemingly shut down any talks about another John Wick movie recently, stating on Extra TV, “You know, the character’s dead. He died in John Wick: Chapter 4.” However, it is Hollywood, after all, and there’s since been confirmation that John Wick 5 is in the works.

A fifth installment of the neo-noir action thriller franchise has been confirmed by a studio executive Jenefer Brown at Lionsgate. While this is exciting news for fans, it doesn’t necessarily mean Reeves will be making a comeback as the beloved assassin.
Speaking with Comic Book, Brown said of the franchise’s future: “This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways. Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie and [we] can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spinoffs to come, a TV series, video game.”
Brown didn’t reveal what a fifth movie meant for the John Wick character, adding “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film … [John Wick] may be [dead]. We are all on bated breath waiting to find out.”
Given the success of John Wick: Chapter 4 – which grossed over $430 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise – and the fact that Wick’s body was never shown after his apparent demise, we can almost certainly bank on Reeves returning.
Spin-off movie
Fans can still get their fix of John Wick this summer with From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina. The spin-off movie, which takes place sometime between the third and fourth films, is slated to premiere in theaters on 6 June 2025.
Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman and stars Ana de Armas in the lead role as a ballerina who is beginning to train in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
When Extra TV pressed Reeves about a new John Wick film, he confirmed that his character makes a cameo in the spin-off, saying, “Well, there’s a version of it called Ballerina, which is set in the John Wick world, and John Wick makes a brief appearance. So other than that, I have no idea.”
The John Wick Experience
Lionsgate’s Brown wasn’t joking when she said the franchise was expanding in incredible ways. If watching Ballerina doesn’t quench your thirst, then you can transport yourself into the world of the legendary assassin at the John Wick Experience in Las Vegas.
The 12,000-square-foot ticketed attraction features interactive elements and set pieces, as well as a themed bar and retail shop open to the general public.
The official description explains how “Each group of guests will be tasked with specific missions, playing out in unique ways with characters, mythology, and iconography from the Wick universe”.
Chris Killian at Comicbook.com experienced the attraction noting its meticulous attention to detail and that he was made to feel “truly a part of the John Wick underworld”.
