Canadian singer Justin Bieber has addressed the persistent rumors that he was abused by disgraced rap mogul Diddy when he was a minor.
Concern has been shown for 31-year-old Bieber about his potential involvement, especially after a video from 2009 – when the singer was still very much a minor – resurfaced showing the pair ‘hanging out’ during the time the paid collaborated on an album. In the video, Diddy said that Bieber was living a “15-year-old’s dream” adding that “for the next 48 hours, he’s with me and we’re going to go buck full crazy.”
This has led to rumors that Bieber was another victim of Diddy doing the rounds online.
Justin Bieber addresses Diddy rumors
With Diddy – real name Sean Combs – currently on trial for sex trafficking, a statement on the rumors was released by Bieber’s team. As reported by TMZ, it said: “Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individiuals who were genuinely harmed by him.
“Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”
This statement should shut down the persistent rumors. Evidently Bieber and his team do not want this to detract from what is happening in Diddy’s trial. TMZ added that “multiple sources” backed up the assertion that no abuse occurred.
The singer was discovered by record executive Scooter Braun in 2008, while R&B star Usher brought him to the US. Diddy appeared with Bieber on TV and in videos, but it is said these were performative, and that Bieber was actually more friends with Diddy’s sons.
Diddy trial
Diddy’s much-publicised trial began this week. In 2024, Diddy was charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty.
His ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, has been testifying against him this week. She has alleged multiple things against Diddy, including abuse.
The pair dated for 10 years from 2009-2018. When they first met, Ventura was 19, while Diddy was 37. Their relationship was known to be volatile at the time.
