Celebrities were quaking in their boots when Taylor Swift’s new album dropped last Friday, April 19 – with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy both dragged into having their dirty laundry aired in public.

But one person who was perhaps not expecting to be embroiled in yet another feud was Kim Kardashian.

The reality star and business owner, 43, found herself in the center of the drama once more, when Swift made a thinly-veiled dig at her in the song, thanK you aIMee, from her record The Tortured Poets Department.

It didn’t take a genius to work out that the capitalized letters in the song title spelt ‘KIM’ – and Swift’s other clues included lyrics about a “bronze, spray-tanned” high school bully.

“All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’,” Swift, 34, sings in the track. “And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed, ‘F*** you, Aimee’ to the night sky as the blood was gushin’ / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”

And while Kris Jenner works hard, the Swifties work harder – with Kardashian’s Instagram follower count dropping from 364.3 million to 363 million over the weekend, with Swift’s leaving comments on her page related to the song.

While we’re doubtful that Kardashian will be losing any sleep over such a small amount of followers (for her), it’s testament to the power of Swift’s music and loyal fandom.

The pair have endured a fractious relationship since 2016, when Kardashian defended her then-husband Kanye West’s track, Famous.

Reciting the lyric “[I] made that bitch famous” and referring to two artists having sex, Kardashian insisted that Swift had given her permission to include her in the track – and despite releasing footage of a phone call between Swift and West about similar lyrics, Swift has since claimed it was recorded “illegally” and “edited”.

Kardashian later insisted that Swift “totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t”, and her fans piled on the Karma singer, branding her a snake and trending the hashtag #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty.

Swift took time off to recuperate – and celebrate her Grammy win for Album of the Year – and then released Reputation – a record considered to be a ‘revenger album’ by fans, as Swift reclaimed the label of being a ‘snake’.
