- Gaga was both host and musical guest
- Joker: Folie A Deux was a flop critically and commercially
- Gaga has just released a new album, Mayhem

Lady Gaga celebrated her new album Mayhem by hosting this weekend’s Saturday Night Live. In the cold open, she poked fun at the lack of success her recent film Joker: Folie A Deux had, which included winning a Razzie last week.
Released in October, Gaga appeared as the Joker’s love interest Harleen ‘Lee’ Quinzel in the sequel. It split critics down the middle and performed poorly at the Box Office. Later, it was nominated for seven Razzies and won two, for worst screen combo of Phoenix and Gaga and worst sequel.

In her monologue, Gaga joked that the Razzie win was fine by her, because she “loves winning things”.
“Anyway, I’m an actor now,” the Oscar and Grammy winner said. “I select films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor, films such as Joker 2. Apparently, people thought it was awesome. Joaquin [Phoenix] and I even got nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst films of the year. So we won worst onscreen duo.”
She continued: “But jokes on them. I love winning things. My Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s like an EGOT, but it’s hurtful.”
Later, she added: “Tonight, I promise to act, to sing and to not do Joker 3.”
“I’m actually here to remind you that I’m an amazing actor”
It was Gaga’s first time hosting SNL since 2013. “I know you might be thinking I’m here to promote my album, Mayhem, but I’m actually here to remind you that I’m an amazing actor.”
“The last time I hosted SNL I was 27,” she continues. “I’m 38 now, which is scientifically the best age for a female pop star to be. I see that most pop stars are over 40. Chappell Roan is 58. Charli XCX, she’s 75. Tate McRae is my biological grandmother.”
She also made reference to the fact that the now-disgraced rapper R. Kelly appeared on the episode in 2013. He had collaborated with Gaga on her single Do What U Want.
“I’m so happy to be back at SNL. The last time I hosted was in 2013 and every aspect of my performance aged amazingly,” she said. “So there’s no need to Google SNL 2013, Lady Gaga featuring R. Kelly. I won’t bring it up because that would be bad.”
As musical guest, Gaga performed two cuts from her new album, Killah and Abracadabra.
Lady Gaga’s new album

Once it hit streaming, fans wondered if Taylor Swift was singing on the track How Bad Do U Want Me.
The internet had mixed reactions to the theory that How Bad Do U Want Me featured Swift. Some were convinced and happy about the alleged collab, but many Gaga fans were irritated by the comparisons and shut them down.
Neither Swift nor Gaga have commented on the rumours.
