In one video, he attempts to smile from his hospital bed saying “this is me doing a full smile right now by the way” but only one half of his face moves, while the other stays still.

The 26-year-old said he’d “lost control of the right side of my face.”

“What the ****? I can’t even laugh right bro” says Lil Nas X

Nas appears to be reacting in good spirits over the scare. On an Instagram story he zooms in on one side of his face and says, “we normal over here” before panning to the other side and saying, “we get crazy over here.”

He elaborated more and reassured his fans: “Guys I am OK!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur ass for me instead!” He then added alongside a selfie, “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”

The star did not disclose the cause of his condition, but fans online have speculated that it could be Bell’s Palsy, which causes weakness or paralysis on one side of the face due to a problem with the facial nerve. Commonly suspected triggers include stress and viral infections.

In the comments section, some of his celebrity friends expressed their concern.

“Get well baby,” said actress Taraji P Henson.

“Sending you love,” wrote Garbage singer Shirley Manson.

Comedian Wanda Sykes added: “Sometimes your body tells you to sit down somewhere. Rest up.”

Dreamboy

The rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, released his debut record, Montero, in 2021 after the smash-hit success of Old Town Road, which became the longest-running No.1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 at 19 weeks.

Prior to his hospital visit, Lil Nas X had been promoting his eight-track EP Days Before Dreamboy, a preview of the long-awaited second album.

In an interview with Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 last month, he described the album’s creation as a difficult process.

“At the start of 2024… I felt really lost, like I was trying to please everyone but myself,” he said.
