Luke Littler, just 16 years old, has stormed into the final of the PDC World Darts Championship, smashing the previous record for the youngest person to reach this stage of the tournament.

Littler beat former world champion Rob Cross 6-2 in his semi-final and will now face Luke Humphries, who has taken over the world number one slot thanks to his own run to the final. Humphries beat Scott Williams 6-0 in his semi.

Littler’s run means a 16-year-old record – set when Littler was just a baby – has been smashed. Previously, Kirk Shepherd was the youngest person to make a final, when he reached that stage in 2008, aged an elderly 21 years and 88 days.

Thanks to his run, Littler is set to bank more than £200,000 ($250,000) regardless of whether he wins the title or not.

Littler has been playing darts since he could walk. Footage of Littler as a toddler throwing darts with amazing technique and unerring accuracy has emerged online, showing that his burgeoning talent was evident from an early age.

When asked by Sky Sports what he will do to prepare for the final, Littler said he won’t break from his routine – he will have a ham and cheese omelette in the morning, a pizza in the afternoon before preparing on the board.
