Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz has a new job – he’s now a full-time NASCAR driver.

The 38-year-old actor shot to fame back in 2000 by starring in the titular role on Fox’s hit sitcom about a super-smart kid and his dysfunctional family.

Now, 24 years later, Muniz has confirmed to People that he’s set to join Reaume Brothers Racing as a full-time NASCAR driver.

According to the outlet, the star is now a full-time driver, helming No. 33’s F-150 and due to hit the racetrack for the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

The position appears to be the natural continuation of a passion that the star has indulged in since 2004. In 2007, he drove professionally in the Champ Car Atlantic Series, competing in all 12 races and ending in 22nd place.

From there, his racing career has continued with stints working alongside Pacific Coast Motorsports, Team Stargate Worlds and Rette Jones Racing among others.

“I don’t want to say it’s a long time coming, but this has been a dream of mine for forever,” he told People during a recent interview.

“I started with doing the open wheel route. I thought I was going to go IndyCar, kind of the Formula 1 route, but I always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to try NASCAR. I wanted to do it. I grew up watching NASCAR. I was a huge fan, but it’s not something I necessarily thought that I’d ever get the opportunity to do,” he admitted.

Star admits he still has “a lot to prove.”

Despite successfully transitioning into a racing career, Muniz isn’t letting this recent NASCAR position slow him down by resting on his laurels.

Admitting the role is “really exciting,” he knows he still has “a lot to prove to myself and to everybody.”

He’s also keen to assure fans that this is far from a passing phase from a one-time actor. “I want people to know that I’ve literally dedicated my life to this… I love it.

“When I’m not in the race car, I’m thinking about being in the race car. I’m training, I’m in the simulator at Ford, the Ford Performance Technical Center. I’m working with my engineers and my crew chiefs and the team and doing everything I can,” he continues. “I’m going to just to be as prepared as humanly possible.”

Not ruled out a return to acting

Having made a name for himself on the small screen alongside Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, Muniz went on to star in the title role of two family movies including 2003’s Agent Cody Banks and its 2004 sequel Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London.

His most recent on-screen role was as part of the 2024 cast of Australia’s take on the hit reality jungle show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! However, he was forced to leave the show early due to family issues.

While driving is now his full-time job, Muniz hasn’t ruled out a return to his old profession. “I hope to just prove to people that I can do both,” he told People. “That’s all I can do.”
