It’s been a funny week for Matty Healy.

Rather than the controversial frontman’s own words forcing him into the spotlight, The 1975 singer has joined the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Calvin Harris, Harry Styles and John Mayer – and broken into the exclusive club to become the subject of one of Taylor Swift’s songs.

Healy, 35, dated the Karma singer, 34, for just a few weeks early last year, following her split from her boyfriend of six years, actor Joe Alwyn, 33.

And while fans initially speculated that Alwyn would be the main focus of Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poet’s Department, it appears that Healy has instead taken center stage.

According to amateur sleuths, Swift’s new songs The Tortured Poets Department, Guilty as Sin?, But Daddy I Love Him, Down Bad, The Black Dog, I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can), and Fresh Out the Slammer are all about North London-born Healy. While the pair only publicly dated last summer, the couple were first linked as far back as 2014, and were friends between their flings.

And this week, reporters caught up with Healy in Los Angeles, and asked him what he thought of his “diss track”.

“My diss track?” he repeated, before adding, “Oh, I haven’t really listened to that much of it [the album], but I’m sure it’s good.”

According to Us Weekly, Healy was lucky enough to get a head’s up from Swift’s team before the album was released last Friday, April 19 – which he was “really appreciative” of.

“He was worried that their story would be shed in a negative light,” an insider revealed. “[He had concerns] the public wouldn’t get the full story.

“[He was] also very nervous about the Swifties [but is] happy he can move on with less anxiety. Their relationship was fast, but extremely passionate and real.”

The insider added that while the former couple doesn’t “speak anymore, [they] had a strong bond” and Healy will “always hold a special place for her.”

A second source said Healy felt “relief” with the album’s release. “Matty still thinks very highly of Taylor, but we were all nervous about what she might have said on the album,” claimed the source.
