- Michael Stuhlbarg is the latest star to join Luca Guadagnino’s next movie, After the Hunt
- The actor will join huge Hollywood names such as Julia Roberts in the dramatic thriller
- Stuhlbarg and Guadagnino previously worked together on the 2017 movie, Call Me By Your Name

It’s set to be one of the biggest movies of 2025.
And now actor Michael Stuhlbarg is set to join the star-studded cast of After the Hunt.
The Golden Globe-nominee, 55 – who was given the nod for his role in 2009’s A Serious Man – has reportedly signed to the film, which will be directed by Luca Guadagnino.
Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield will also star in the dramatic thriller – which follows a college professor who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil levels an accusation against one of her colleagues, and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light.
Fans will recognise Edebiri, 28, from her role as Sydney in the FX series The Bear, which will return for a third season on June 27. Double Oscar-nominee Garfield, 40, will return to our screens this October in We Live in Time, a romance which will also star Florence Pugh.
Hollywood legend Roberts, 56, has been sinking her teeth into grittier roles as of late. The actor produced and starred in the apocalyptic psychological thriller Leave the World Behind last year – but she went back to her rom-com roots in 2022, performing opposite George Clooney in Ticket to Paradise.
Guadagnino’s movie Challengers surpasses $90 million in box offices worldwide
This isn’t the first time Stuhlbarg and Guadagnino have worked together.
The actor starred in his 2017 coming-of-age romantic drama, Call Me By Your Name, playing Timothée Chalamet’s father Samuel.
Meanwhile, Guadagnino achieved box office success earlier this year with his sport romance movie, Challengers.
Featuring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, the film has so far grossed $90.3 million worldwide.
During the press tour for the movie, Zendaya was praised for her tennis-themed wardrobe.
The star stepped out in a pair of white stilettos which had tennis balls skewered onto the heels during a photocall in Rome. The fun shoes were paired with a sporty holographic silver Loewe dress with black trimming and a pleated miniskirt.
Other looks have included another Loewe gown (this time, it was glittery green and floor-length, with a graffiti-like graphic of a figure hitting a tennis ball) and a white two piece from Lacoste – a brand which was founded in 1933 by tennis legend René Lacoste.
