- Wallen faced a backlash online following his walk off

Morgan Wallen has moved to clear up the confusion surrounding his abrupt exit from Saturday Night Live, in March.
The country star provoked a furious backlash on social media when he performed as the musical guest on the March 29 episode.
Hosted by recent Academy Award winner Mikey Madison, the episode saw Wallen perform two songs from his forthcoming album, but his performances were not what was discussed online.

Morgan Wallen Clears Up The Walk Off Controversy
Instead, Wallen’s abrupt walk off as the credits rolled, rather than walking back towards the SNL cast, and following social media post, dominated social media discourse.
Wallen initially shared a hug with Madison and looked to be in high spirits, but then simply walked off camera. Traditionally, hosts and musical guests will mingle with the cast as the credits roll. Not long afterwards, Wallen posted a shot of his private jet to his Instagram story, with the caption, “Get me to God’s Country”.

After enduring a ton of criticism, Wallen has now attempted to clear up the confusion, during an interview on Caleb Pressley’s Sundae Conversations.
The host asked, “could you fix a TV, if it was on SNL?” to which Wallen replied, “I could change it for sure.”
When Pressley asked if SNL had actually made Wallen mad, the Last Night singer replied, “No, no. I was just ready to go home. I’d been there all week.”
When asked about his “Get me to God’s country” post, Wallen simply said, “yeah”.
SNL Cast Were Not Too Happy With Wallen
Long serving SNL cast member Kenan Thompson, however, didn’t seem too impressed with the singer when asked about the incident at the time.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Good Burger star said, “I don’t know what goes through people’s minds when they decide to do stuff like that. I don’t know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way… I thought maybe he had to go to the potty or something.
“It’s definitely a spike in the norm. We’re so used to everybody just turning around and high-fiving us, everybody’s saying, ‘Good job, good job, good job.’ So when there’s a departure from that, it’s like, hmm, I wonder what that’s about?
“The ‘God’s country’ of it all is strange because it’s like, what are you trying to say? You trying to say that we are not in God’s country? We’re not all in God’s country? We’re not all under God’s umbrella? That’s not necessarily my favorite.”
