- The 2025 Royal Rumble will take place in Indiana, with Haliburton already promoting the event on social media
- Haliburton already has WWE experience, appearing during an episode of SmackDown and squaring off with the Knicks’ Jalen Brunson
- Haliburton’s comment on social media has got WWE fans talking
Tyrese Haliburton’s appearance on WWE SmackDown earlier this year has clearly given the NBA All-Star a taste for the world of professional wrestling, with the Indiana Pacers point guard teasing a potential appearance at next year’s Royal Rumble.
The 2025 Royal Rumble will be held at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, not a million miles away from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse where Haliburton plies his trade with the Pacers.
Haliburton Already Has History Inside The WWE Ring
Four months ago, during an episode of SmackDown held at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Haliburton, who has recently been named as one of the featured stars for the next season of Netflix’s acclaimed ‘Starting Five’ series, hopped the guardrail during Logan Paul’s triple threat match with LA Knight and Santos Escobar.
However, as the two-time All Star attempted to intervene on Paul’s behalf, hometown hero Jalen Brunson, of the New York Knicks, made his presence felt, causing a ringside distraction that would eventually lead to Knight scoring a pinfall victory over the then United States Champion.
Haliburton had also appeared at WWE’s Fastlane event (and a recent episode of NXT) in Indianapolis in 2023, although his involvement was slightly more lowkey, asking Bayley a question during the post-show press conference. And now his WWE fandom could be on the cusp of reaching a new stratosphere altogether.
The Royal Rumble, one of the WWE’s biggest events of the year, will take place on February 1, 2025 and, having already promoted the event on his social media channels when it was first announced earlier this year, Haliburton went a step further during an interview with sports and entertainment journalist Landon Buford, earlier this week.
Buford shared a video on X in which he posed the question “Royal Rumble’s going to be in your city and you guys are playing that day. Do you think you might be able to get over there?” to the Olympic gold medalist.
Tyrese Haliburton – Royal Rumble Winner?
Haliburton replied, “We might see it. I can’t tell you everything, but you might see me at the Rumble.”
Should the Pacers point guard end up competing at the Royal Rumble, he would be following in the footsteps of a litany of high profile athletes who have crossed over to pro-wrestling and stepped through the ropes, such as Lawrence Taylor, Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, Shaq, Ronda Rousey, Steve McMichael and Floyd Mayweather.
Give Brunson number 29 at the Rumble and Haliburton 30 and let’s see them duke it out for a spot in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
