- New series will be based on Stephanie Meyers’ 2020 book Midnight Sun
- The original book follows the Twilight story from Edward Cullen’s perspective
- Original Twilight films grossed more than $3.5 billion globally

Good news for Twilight fans – a new animated series is coming to Netflix that will retell the story from Edward Cullen’s perspective.
New perspective
The series will be based on Stephanie Meyer’s 2020 novel Midnight Sun, which reimagined the original Twilight story from a different perspective.
Netflix confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), saying a series was in development. In addition, on its website it was confirmed that Meyer will be an executive producer on the project. Sinead Daly, who recently worked on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, is also on board as an executive producer and will also write the show.
However, there has been no more information added to this, such as who will make up the voice cast or when the series might make it to air.
Rumors of a new Twilight series have been around since 2023, when various outlets including The Hollywood Reporter said that Lionsgate was interested in the project.
Sensation
The original Twilight books were written by Meyer in the mid-2000s and quickly became a sensation – mostly among the teenage girl market. The series was turned into a hugely successful film franchise, with the first film, Twilight, released in 2008 starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. This was followed by New Moon in 2009, Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) and Breaking Dawn – Part 2 in 2012. In all, the series grossed more than 3.35 billion at the global box office.
However, once the film series had been completed, there was little else for fans of the series until Meyer’s 2020 book. But now it seems that a new generation may be set to sink their teeth into the vampire-based saga.
