Coalition Shifts Focus- Gear of War: E-Day
Coalition- the Developer behind Gear of War has different plans for the game. When everyone was expecting a sequel, continuing the story of Gear of War 5, the team dropped a surprising forerunner, sticking to the origin’s story.
Imagine rewinding the clock in the game, back to the explosive moment that started it all: E-Day That’s right—Gears of War: E-Day will serve as a prequel to the series. The release date has not been shared yet.
It will take players to the adventure of younger Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, unfolding their stories and battles. In an Xbox Wire post published in June, Matt Searcy- A Coalition member said,
“Why E-Day? That’s the moment it all comes together. It’s the heart of the Gears universe. Everything that happens is shaped by this day.”
Plans For Gear 6 Revealed
Rod Ferguson, a former lead on Gears, revealed in a Podcast with IGN that Gear 6 was set to be on a different or new planet instead of Sera, “Gears 6 was to leave Sera,” Fergusson shared. (transcription via GamesRadar).
“That was something we were building to. We were sort of laying the seeds and the groundwork for taking over that UIR territory. So what I wanted to do with Gears 6 is take you off Sera to encounter what that could mean to the rest of the galaxy or, at least, the rest of the solar system.”
Rod hinted that it wouldn’t be something like Mass Effect but a distinct solar exploration. But as the developers’ focus has shifted the plans for Gear 6 are only limited to imagination for now.
The team also displayed their awareness regarding the Gear 5 Cliffhanger and hasn’t forgotten the Gear 6, but the idea of the origin’s story was too fascinating to resist for them.
“We’re not retreating from that storyline in any way. But in [this] moment, we had an opportunity to write our next step, and this one just felt too good to miss.”
Currently, Coalition is focusing on Gear of Wars- E Day, putting aside the Gear 6 but as the team is super dedicated to the new game, players are hoping it to be worth releasing.
