The eagerly anticipated new series of ‘The Office’ will follow the fortunes – or otherwise – of the staff at a Midwestern newspaper, it has been confirmed.

In the show, the crew that detailed the life of the Scranton branch of paper company Dunder Mifflin find a new subject in a dying historic Midwestern newspaper. There, they find a publisher trying to revive the paper, along with a team of volunteer reporters. This also confirms that the show is set in the same universe as the previous show.

‘The Office’, while not a reboot or spinoff from the previous show, will be filmed in the same mockumentary style.

Other plotlines have yet to be confirmed, including names and biographies of the characters that we will be seeing.

In terms of casting, Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore have been named, but who will make up the rest of the ensemble cast has yet to be revealed.

Greg Daniels, who developed the US version of ‘The Office’, is working with Michael Koman as co-creators of the new series. They will both be executive producers, along with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who created the original series in the UK.

It has also been confirmed that the show has been picked up by Peacock. Production on the new show is set to start in July, but a date for it to air has not been released.

‘The Office’, which ran from 2005 to 2013, has had an enduring popularity since its run ended, becoming a favorite on streaming services where it has found a new generation of fans.
