- Adventures of the Four Horsemen are set to continue, with new characters added

Filming has just wrapped on adventure threequel Now You See Me 3, which is set hit theaters in a year’s time – here is all we know about it.
Four Horsemen are back
From shots released at the finale of filming, we know that the Four Horseman group of magicians are back. Again, they will be played by Woody Harrelson (as Merritt McKinney), Jesse Eisenberg (J. Daniel Atlas) and Dave Franco (Jack Wilder). And this time, it is the original four back as Isla Fisher is returning as escapologist Henley Reeves. Fisher didn’t appear in Now You See Me 2, with Lizzy Caplan taking her place as new member Lula May.
Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo are also reprising thier roles as Thaddeus Bradley and Dylan Rhodes respectively.
New cast members
The action is set to be shook up by the addition of a range of new characters. Actors involved include Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie), Justice Smith (Dungeons & Dragons) and Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers).
Pike is rumored to be playing a pivotal role in the new film, but what that could be isn’t yet known.
There is also a new name in the director’s chair. Ruben Fleischer – best known for Zombieland – is taking over the reigns from Jon M Chu.
Plot points
As yet, the makers of the film are, rather like magicians, keeping their secrets about the plot of the film. However, it is likely to be along the lines of the first two films – the Horsemen getting involved in a heist, leading to lots of trick-based set pieces.
The end of the second film had Rhodes being asked to take over as leader of The Eye, a secret society of magicians. There was a tease the Four Horsemen would join too. Whether this will form part of the plot remains to be seen.
It also remains to be seen if Fisher’s return will be made into a plot point.
Long gestation
By the time that Now You See Me 3 hits theaters it will be nearly 10 years since the previous film was released.
Plans for Now You See Me 3 were announced as far back as 2016, just after the second film came out, but for some years afterwards updates were scarce. For a while, it seemed like the project had got lost – admittedly the pandemic probably didn’t help – but it is now finally coming to screens next year.
