However, we wanted to look at those that were perhaps unfairly ignored by the Academy this year.
Without further ado, here are the biggest Oscars snubs of 2025.
Oscar snubs 2025
Maria
Maria, Pablo Larrain’s study of the last few days of the opera Primadonna Maria Callas starring Angelina Jolie, got no nods this awards season.
Challengers
The sexually charged Luca Guadagnino tennis flick Challengers, starring Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist and Zendaya, got zlich.
Queer
The Daniel Craig-led drama Queer is another Luca Guadagnino move that got nothing this year, making it a classic Oscar snubs example.
Furiosa
George Miller’s Mad Mad prequel starring Anya Taylor-Joy was totally ignored after Mad Max: Fury Road snagged ten nods and six wins in 2016.
Hard Truths
Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths might have wowed the nominating gods at the BAFTAs but not the ones in charge of the Oscars.
Babygirl
Nothing about Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson’s dancing to George Michael was Oscar-worthy, apparently – or anything else in this Halina Reijn A24 number.
All We Imagine As Light
Paya Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light can boast wins at the Cannes Film Festival and Golden Globe nominations but nothing from the 2025 Oscars.

Alien: Romulus
The Fede Alvarez-helmed Ailen: Romulus didn’t even get a mention in the visual effects category.
Kneecap
The beloved Irish film Kneecap about the eponymous band, directed by Rich Peppiatt, didn’t get any inclusion on the list either.
Green Border
This Agnieszka Holland-helmed drama about fleeing refugees, Green Border, might have illustrated a humanitarian crisis but it didn’t get any recognition from the Oscars.
Kinds of Kindness
Last year’s Best Actress winner, Emma Stone, didn’t manage to recapture the glory for the Academy in this Oscar snub by Yorgos Lathimos’s Kinds of Kindness.
I Saw The TV Glow
Jane Schoenbrun’s drama about two high school students bonding over a television series was not what the Oscar nomination list required, it seems.
