Paul Mescal is one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood.
But that didn’t stop the actor from shirking his duties as a supportive boyfriend this weekend.
Despite hosting the show on December 7, the Gladiator II star, 28, showed up once more at the set of SNL – as he was there to cheer on his girlfriend, Gracie Abrams.
Just as Mescal had done the weekend before, the singer, 25, was making her debut on the comedy sketch show as the evening’s musical performer.
Playing two of her tracks, That’s So True and I Love You, I’m Sorry, Abrams’s set went down a hit on social media – as did Mescal’s appearance.
“Gracie and Paul at SNL tonight I just collapsed,” wrote one fan.
However, others compared their relationship to that of Taylor Swift and her now ex-partner, Joe Alwyn.
Swift dated the British actor for six years until they split in April 2023 – and followers could see a similarity between the fiercely private Irishman, and Abrams, who opened for Swift during her Eras Tour concerts.
“So we all thought of the clip of Joe and Taylor running to the car?,” questioned one, while another added, “Dare I say this is Gracie’s Joe Alwyn.”
Others said they had “seen this film before”, as someone else said, “We’re going to get such excellent music one day.”
“Can he chill a little bit Joe Alwyn from Temu,” another wrote, referencing the fast fashion site.
Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams’s relationship
Although they were first spotted officially together in June 2024, Abrams and Mescal were briefly linked in October last year.
But fast forward eight months, and the pair were pictured out and about in London, with another insider spotted them shopping in July.
“Paul is a very low-key person, as is Gracie, so there was no fanfare and they kept their distance from each other when they were out on the street,” they told The Sun. “When they had finished shopping, they each went off alone.”
Since then, the pair have been seen together several times – including with other pals at music festivals.
And while neither has officially confirmed their relationship, they seemed to go public with their romance in November – when Abrams attended the Los Angeles premiere of Gladiator II to support her boyfriend.
Who else has Paul Mescal dated?
Abrams isn’t the first musician that Mescal has dated, though.
The Normal People star was in a relationship with boygenius singer Phoebe Bridgers for two years from May 2020.
Mescal was also linked to actor Sophie Wilde in March this year.
“Paul and Sophie have been having lots of fun together and now their friendship has turned into something more,” a source told The Mirror. “They got really close after last month’s B Awards and were seen smooching into the early hours at an after-party at London’s Chiltern Firehouse.
“It’s early days, but they’re excited about where things could go. They have a solid foundation and loads of respect for each other.”
