- Spinoffs of other beloved Cartoon Network shows were also announced at Annecy

One of Cartoon Network’s most beloved shows from the 2010s is officially coming back – but whether the stars of the original will return has yet to be revealed.
At Annecy, a showcase for new productions from Warner Bros Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, it was revealed that a new Regular Show project is in the works.
Whoops of joy
At Annecy, a black screen announced a new series, which was revealed as Regular Show – to whoops of joy from those in attendance, according to Variety.
However, little else about the new show has been revealed, other than it is an entirely new show but it will feature some of the characters from the original. It has also been confirmed that J.G. Quintel, who created Regular Show and was showrunner on all eight seasons of its original run, is involved in the new project.
Popular show
Regular Show was one of Cartoon Network’s most popular shows during its run on the channel from 2010-2017. The show spanned eight series – the final series was titled Regular Show in Space as the characters were, well, in space – and 244 episodes.
The show focused on the misadventures of two 23-year-old slackers, Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a racoon. They were both groundskeepers at a park but would spend most of their days trying to find ways to slack off and relieve their boredom – often by playing video games. Their often surreal and supernatural adventures would usually end up involving their coworkers, such as Muscle Man and Hi-Five Ghost and Benson, their boss, who also happened to be a gumball machine.
Also at Annecy, other spinoff shows were announced, including for old favorites such as Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and Adventure Time.
