A new series from Ryan Murphy is in the works, with FX commissioning a series of The Beauty, with long-time collaborator Evan Peters set for a starring role.
Based on graphic novel
The new series is part of Murphy’s deal with Disney, and an 11-episode first season has been commissioned. Production is anticipated to begin in November, according to Deadline.
As well as Peters, The Beauty will star Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope and Ashton Kutcher/ Peters, Ramos and Pope are also executive producing the show.
Murphy is working on this with Matt Hodgson on this – they are credited as co-creators, writers and executive producers. As yet, no details on the plotlines have been released. More cast members will be added closer to production time, including a female lead.
The Beauty is based on the successful graphic novel by Jeremy Haul and Jason A Hurley, published in 2016. It is about an STD – called The Beauty – that makes those affect beautiful. But it comes at a cost – it eventually kills its host. The Beauty is suspected to be part of a sinister government plot (aren’t they all?).
Cops Drew Foster and Kara Vaughn are on the case, but trying to find the truth brings them up against corrupt politicians, federal agents and even a mercenary trying to kill them.
Long-time collaborators
Murphy and Peters have worked together for many years. Peters had roles in nine instalments of Murphy’s horror anthology series American Horror Story. Peters also starred in the first season of Pose and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, both of which were co-created by Murphy.
