They’re celebrity ‘couple goals’.

But it appears that we’ll have to wait to see Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively star on the big screen together – as he says he can’t afford to hire her!

While many fans speculated that Lively, 36, may be playing Lady Deadpool opposite her husband in his new movie, Deadpool & Wolverine – which hits theaters on July 26 – they’re clearly going to be a little disappointed.

In an interview, Reynolds, 47 – who continues his stint as Deadpool in the third installment of the franchise – was asked, “What would it mean to work with your best friend Blake?”

He jokingly replied, “She’s not half the friend that Hugh is,” citing his friendship with co-star Hugh Jackman, who portrays Wolverine.

Reynolds – who met his now-wife on the set of 2011’s Green Lantern, and married her a year later – then continued, “You know, in the old days, they all got to work together, hanging out. We got Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn…That’d be nice.

“I’d love to work with Blake. I can’t afford her fee. But I would love that.”

Hugh took the story from ‘good’ to ‘great’!’

While we may have to wait for Reynolds and Lively to work together once more, Jackman was absolutely determined to star alongside his good friend.

Speaking exclusively to Pubity at the red carpet premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds revealed his pal had sent a 17-minute voicenote to he and director Shawn Levy, making his pitch for the role and possible plot points for them to explore.

“His voicenote cracked the script open for us,” Reynolds explained. “The story… we already had the how and the why, but what Hugh identified in the story was the thing that took it from ‘good’ to ‘great’ and we’re super grateful for that.

“The first 11-12 minutes were a slog – he was just listing his credits, accomplishments and awards, there was a long list – but when he got to the movie in the final 40 seconds, he really helped us in every way, shape and form.”

The pair also discussed the return of Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, one of Wolverine’s traditional nemeses in the comics and previous movies.

“He was one of the coolest guys,” said Jackman of the former WWE star.
