- Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan called time on their relationship after just over a year together
- And now it seems as though the Espresso singer has addressed the break up for the first time
- Carpenter made comments while on-stage with pal Jack Antonoff

Sabrina Carpenter has seen her career go from strength to strength in 2024.
But despite having a record-breaking hit song and her first number one album, the singer, 25, has been unlucky in love – and has sadly parted ways from her partner of just over a year, Barry Keoghan.
And for the first time, Carpenter has appeared to comment on her split with the Saltburn actor, 32.
In an on-stage appearance at Jack Antonoff’s annual The Ally Coalition talent show, the pint-sized pop star performed her hit Slim Pickins with her producer pal, 40.
Carpenter explained the inspiration behind their joint song was the relationship phrase “there’s plenty of fish in the sea”, to which she seemingly made a comment about her recent break up – telling the audience that the phrase was “a big fat lie, I think”.
Why did Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan break up?
Despite taking part in several high-profile events together – including the prestigious Met Gala in May – and Keoghan supporting Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour, sources close to Carpenter and Barry confirmed the relationship speculation, revealing they had opted to “take a break.”
A rep told PEOPLE magazine, “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.”
Rumours swirled on social media that Keoghan had been spotted getting cozy with TikTok influencer Breckie Hill.
The whispers began circulating after Hill posted Snapchat videos from BOA Steakhouse on November 18 – the same night Carpenter, 25, performed in Los Angeles.
But now in a TikTok video – titled “Addressing everything” – to her 4.3 million followers, Hill has revealed that she has never even met Oscar-nominee Keoghan.
“To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry,” she said in the video, which has been viewed 2.7 million times. “I have never even encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV screen from watching Saltburn.”
Hill also said she had reposted the allegations because she found them “so ridiculous”.
Keoghan deactivates his Instagram account

Keoghan has also addressed the situation online.
After deactivating his Instagram account, he posted a statement to Twitter/X calling out trolls for targeting him.
“I can only sit and take so much,” Keoghan wrote. “My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to. I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where there are too many lines being crossed.
“Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for. Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking at my grannies door. Sitting outside my baby boy’s house intimidating them. That’s crossing a line.”
Keoghan concluded, “I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all. Thank u x.”
